Transition 5.0

Transition 5.0

Investments made during the 2024–2025 period could qualify for the benefits of Transition 5.0, the government’s new initiative aimed at supporting the ecological and digital transition, which builds on the incentive program launched in recent years.

In fact , over the next two years , companies will be able to claim the tax credit if their investments result in a 3% reduction in energy consumption across their entire operations, or a 5% reduction in a specific production process. It is important to note that this benefit can be used not only for maintenance and upgrades to production infrastructure, but also for the technological adaptation of personnel, through training programs or the introduction of new technologies.

This opens up a new and significant opportunity for companies that want to take advantage of subsidies to continue, begin, or complete their digital and green transition. There are, therefore, two key concepts underlying Transition 5.0: company empowerment and team augmentation.

Company Empowerment

Both the digital transition and the ecological and sustainable transition require new technologies. Introducing new tools and software into your company—along with new processes that integrate them—means growing and strengthening your business.

However, every business is unique; for this reason, the technologies that have enabled one company’s success cannot always be applied in other contexts—or, at the very least, they require customization to account for the specific characteristics of each individual company, from the products or services it provides to the people who make up the organization.

Team Augmentation

The introduction of new technologies is an opportunity, but it is sometimes perceived as a risk. In fact, it requires new skills that may not be available within the company.

To address these shortcomings, there are several options available; one of these is “Team Augmentation”—that is, expanding one’s team with professionals specialized in the use and sharing of new technologies that facilitate the digital and ecological transition process.

Expanding one's workforce is one of the simplest ways to achieve the goals set forth by the Transition 5.0 project and to reap its benefits.

Training

The main alternative is training: depending on the type of technologies and tools that need to be integrated and on the level of in-house technical expertise within a company, it is possible to launch dedicated training programs aimed at acquiring the necessary knowledge.

Training activities are also included among the expenses eligible for the tax credit provided for under Transition 5.0
