Quality, environment, safety: the most requested certifications

Corporate certifications are not simple formal certificates, but real governance tools that define how an organization works, makes decisions and manages processes, risks and responsibilities. Obtaining a certification means subjecting oneself to shared, measurable and verifiable rules, recognized at an international level.

Their importance lies in the fact that they create trust. Trust toward clients, partners, investors and, increasingly, control authorities. In a complex and competitive market, demonstrating that you operate according to recognized standards allows companies to reduce uncertainty, improve internal efficiency and communicate their value in a credible way. Certifications thus become a common language among organizations that want to work together.

From here arises the competitive advantage. A certified company does not limit itself to declaring that it works well, safely or sustainably: it demonstrates it through auditable processes. This is particularly true in high-innovation sectors, where product quality, data management, people’s safety and environmental impact are decisive factors in the choice of a supplier or a technological partner. In this context, ISO certifications represent one of the most solid and recognized tools.

The acronym ISO stands for International Organization for Standardization, an independent international organization that develops technical and management standards valid at a global level. ISO standards define clear requirements for organizational management systems and are designed to be applicable to any type of company, regardless of size or sector.

ISO 9001: the quality management system

ISO 9001 is the most widespread certification in the world and is dedicated to the quality management system. It does not concern the quality of the single product, but the way in which the organization structures its processes to guarantee consistent results and continuous improvement. The core of the standard is the process approach, combined with the Plan-Do-Check-Act improvement cycle. c

From a technical point of view, ISO 9001 requires that the company identifies its key processes, defines measurable objectives, assigns clear responsibilities and monitors performance through indicators. Also central is the concept of risk-based thinking, which requires evaluating risks and opportunities before making operational or strategic decisions.

For technological and digital companies, ISO 9001 is often the first step toward a structured management of software development, the design of digital services and the relationship with the client. The certification helps reduce errors, rework and inefficiencies, improving the overall reliability of the organization.

ISO 27001: information and data security

ISO 27001 is the reference standard for information security management systems. In a data-based economy, this certification has become crucial for all organizations that handle sensitive, personal or strategic information.

From a technical point of view, ISO 27001 requires a structured assessment of information security risks and the adoption of appropriate organizational, physical and technological controls. The standard covers aspects such as access management, protection of IT infrastructures, supplier security, incident management and business continuity.

For digital companies, software houses, startups and data-driven organizations, ISO 27001 is often a requirement requested by enterprise clients and public administrations. Moreover, it represents a solid basis for compliance with privacy regulations, such as the GDPR, and for the construction of a corporate culture oriented toward security.

UNI/PdR 125: gender equality and organizational governance

Alongside the most established standards on quality, safety and technology, in recent years the gender equality certification, based on UNI/PdR 125:2022, has taken on a growing role. Although it is not formally an ISO standard, this reference practice fully fits into the landscape of governance certifications, because it defines measurable and verifiable criteria to promote gender equity within organizations. UNI/PdR 125 requires companies to adopt a management system oriented toward concrete objectives, monitoring key indicators (KPIs) on topics such as career opportunities, pay equity, work-life balance policies, protection of parenthood and an inclusive organizational culture.

From a strategic point of view, the certification does not limit itself to an ethical commitment, but becomes a tool of competitiveness and sustainability: it improves corporate reputation, strengthens attractiveness toward talents and investors and allows access to incentives and rewards provided by the Italian and European regulatory framework. In this sense, UNI/PdR 125 naturally interacts with other management systems, such as ISO 9001, ISO 27001 and ISO 42001, contributing to an integrated vision of corporate governance that includes people, processes and social responsibilities.

ISO 42001: artificial intelligence governance

ISO/IEC 42001 is the first international standard dedicated to artificial intelligence management systems. It was created to respond to the growing complexity related to the development and use of AI systems, in a regulatory and social context that is rapidly evolving.

From a technical perspective, ISO 42001 defines requirements to govern the entire life cycle of artificial intelligence systems, from design to development, from use to monitoring. The standard addresses key issues such as AI risk management, algorithm transparency, bias prevention, security, reliability and accountability of automated decisions.

This certification is particularly relevant for companies that develop or use artificial intelligence solutions, especially in regulated or high-impact sectors. ISO 42001 is also closely connected to the future European regulatory framework, in particular to the AI Act, and represents a strategic tool to demonstrate compliance, maturity and reliability in the use of AI.

ISO 42001 is particularly interesting because it regulates a topic, that of artificial intelligence, destined to become crucial for a very large number of companies, in Italy and in the world. For this reason we are particularly proud to be able to make it available to our clients through our technological partner, PC Cube, together with the other certifications that you can view here: [https://www.viasky.it/highlights/viasky/](https://www.viasky.it/highlights/viasky/)
